about vortex

Vortex is not just the band that consists of Chlorine (vox) and Binary (git, keys, dj, mixing). Vortex is a 21st century lifestyle occurrence. Chlorine and Binary live in the ant hive New York City where everything is everything, everything is nothing and nothing is everything. They are musicians, visual artists, humanitarians, dog lovers, Mac lovers, geeks, scatterbrains and multi-taskers. Just like any other New Yorker, you
might say. What sets them apart is their sensitivity to create music that leaves your soul with a stain that won’t wash out. At least their fans like to think so. Like their place of residence, their music is a melting pot of influences, styles and cultures. Some of Vortex’s work has been compared to Björk, Tricky or Portishead. An eclectic assembly, for sure, and one that Vortex is proud to be referenced with.

Chlorine: In former gigs, Chlorine sang backups with Sting + Ziggy Marley, Indaba, Innocent Men, Roberta Flack amongst others for various benefits and causes serving Amnesty International, North South
Productions UK, Navajo Hopi Indian Issue and Presidential Campaign Concerts. She sings on several records with Jim Henson and the Muppets in a series of children’s books, as performed by he and his company and is the singing voice of the Snuggles Bear in a similar campaign for children. Similar projects (24 albums) with childrens books for MacMillan Publishing and cartoons for kids.

Binary: Prior to Vortex, Binary has worked as a producer, programmer and sound engineer in Berlin, Germany. His works include the album production of Madonna Hip Hop Massaker, Radical Romance for East West RecordsGermany, the NuStyle single Sommer for EMI Germany and the Rekord debut album production for Tam TamRecords, BMG Germany.
